Robotic arms take home top award

A robotic firefighter and a walking android have been trumped by an industrial mechanical arm to win a Japanese government-run competition.
The advanced assembly-line robotic arms, made by industry specialist Fanuc, won Robot of the Year.
The arms have been built for accurately sorting items on conveyor belts use in the food and drug industries.

Sony's unholy row in 'dumb' list
|
Fortune magazine has chosen Sony's use of Manchester Cathedral as the backdrop to a violent game as one of its "101 Dumb Moments in Business" for 2007.
The gaffe was picked at number 63 by the US publication in its list of "the dumbest of the dumb" occurrences.
Sony apologised to the Church of England for using the cathedral as a backdrop to "Resistance: Fall of Man".

Whistle blows on Sensible Soccer
|
Classic game Sensible World of Soccer has been removed from Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade following reports that it was throwing players offline.
The game was put on Xbox Live Arcade as a download for owners of the console on 19 December.
But many who bought and downloaded it and tried to play online against other Xbox owners found that it disconnected them from the gaming network.
